The Digital Freedom Fund is establishing a consultancy roster for talented and passionate consultants who are committed to advancing digital rights and social justice. If your portfolio meets our requirements, you will be contacted and will have the opportunity to collaborate with us on various projects and initiatives aimed at driving positive change in the digital rights space. From designing materials to creating impactful visuals for campaigns and events, you will play a vital role in amplifying our mission and reaching diverse audiences across Europe and beyond.


As a Proofreader with the Digital Freedom Fund, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, clarity, and consistency of our written materials, including legal documents, reports, publications, and online content. Your meticulous attention to detail and expertise in language will help uphold our standards in advancing digital rights.

Key Responsibilities:


1. Review and proofread a variety of written materials, including legal briefs, reports, articles, website content, and promotional materials, to identify errors in grammar, punctuation, spelling, and syntax.

2. Verify factual accuracy, consistency of style, and adherence to established guidelines and standards, ensuring alignment with the organisation's messaging and objectives.

3. Collaborate with writers, editors, and designers to clarify meaning, improve readability, and enhance overall quality of written content.

4. Provide constructive feedback and suggestions for revisions to improve clarity, coherence, and effectiveness of written communication.

5. Maintain consistency in terminology, formatting, and language usage across all materials, adhering to organisational branding and editorial guidelines.

6. Manage proofreading schedules and deadlines to meet project timelines and ensure timely delivery of polished and error-free content.

7. Stay informed about industry best practices, language trends, and legal terminology relevant to digital rights and strategic litigation.


Requirements:


1. Proven experience (minimum 2 years) in proofreading, editing, or language-related roles, preferably in a legal, academic, or advocacy setting.

2. Exceptional command of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.

3. Strong understanding of writing conventions and principles of clear and effective communication.

4. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and priorities with precision and efficiency.

5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide constructive feedback and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

6. Commitment to digital rights, social justice, and equity, aligning with the mission and values of the Digital Freedom Fund.

7. Fluency in English (Native speaker level)
