The Digital Freedom Fund is establishing a consultancy roster for talented and passionate consultants who are committed to advancing digital rights and social justice. From designing materials to creating impactful visuals for campaigns and events, you will play a vital role in amplifying our mission and reaching diverse audiences across Europe and beyond.


As a Translator with the Digital Freedom Fund, you will play a vital role in bridging language barriers and ensuring accessibility to our work across diverse linguistic communities. We are seeking translators with native language proficiency in Spanish and French to translate a variety of documents, including legal briefs, reports, publications, website content, and communications materials, from English into their respective languages.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Translate documents accurately and fluently from English to Spanish or English to French, ensuring clarity, coherence, and cultural relevance of translated materials.

2. Maintain consistency in terminology, style, and tone across translations, adhering to established guidelines and standards while also adapting language to suit the linguistic preferences and nuances of target audiences.

3. Conduct research and consult reference materials to ensure accurate translation of technical, legal, and specialised terminology related to digital rights and strategic litigation.

4. Collaborate with team members, including editors, proofreaders, and content creators, to review translations, address feedback, and maintain quality standards.

5. Manage translation projects, timelines, and deadlines, prioritising tasks and coordinating with stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of translated materials.

6. Stay informed about language trends, linguistic developments, and cultural sensitivities relevant to translation and digital rights field.


Requirements:


1. Native language proficiency in Spanish/French, with excellent command of English.

2. Proven experience (minimum 2 years) in translation, with a strong portfolio demonstrating proficiency in translating a range of documents and materials across different subject areas especially human rights.

3. Strong understanding of linguistic nuances, cultural sensitivities, and regional variations in language usage, particularly in the context of digital rights and legal terminology.

4. Attention to detail and accuracy in translation, with the ability to convey complex ideas and legal concepts clearly and effectively in the target language.

5. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and deadlines effectively.

6. Commitment to digital rights, social justice, and equity, aligning with the mission and values of the Digital Freedom Fund
